In 2009/10 MY Ukraine remained in third place in the ranking of the world's leading grain exporters, together with Russia - its main competitor in the global market, this was reported in the press service of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.

"During the last marketing year, Ukraine and Russia exported 21.2 million tons of grain," Director General of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Serhiy Stoyanov said.

According to the UAC in the season 2009/10 Ukraine exported 9.3 million tons of wheat, barley - 6.2 million tons, corn - 5.3 million tons, peas and buckwheat - by 0.4 million tons.

Ukraine firmly maintains the leadership in the world in the export of barley, nearly half ahead of the closest pursuer - Australia.

"We have to note that based on forecasts for the 2010/11 MY, it will be incredibly difficult for Ukraine to stay in the top three grain exporters, because export of grain from the country is unlikely to exceed 18.5 million tons," the UAC stated.
