Ukrainian Education and Science Minister Ivan Vakarchuk has called on every Ukrainian scientist to write at least two or three articles for the Ukrainian segment of Wikipedia, a web-based multilingual encyclopedia project.

“The Ukrainian segment of the encyclopedia can significantly be expanded if every Ukrainian scientist writes at least two or three articles in his or her direction of activity,” he said.

“This work could also be done by senior students who, under the guidance of their professors, could have joined the creation of a powerful Ukrainian Wikipedia, because everybody can write or edit an article in this web-based encyclopedia. The formation of the Ukrainian segment of this Internet encyclopedia is a task of national importance,” Vakarchuk said.

The Ukrainian-language Wikipedia includes 188,000 articles.
