Leader of the Regions Party Viktor Yanukovych won the second round of the presidential election of Ukraine with 48.95% of electors' votes against 45.47% of the votes in support of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. These data, entered into the CEC final protocol about establishment of official returns of the presidential elections, were announced at the CEC meeting on February 14 by CEC Chairman Volodymyr Shapoval.

“The Central Election Commission announces Viktor Yanukovych, born in 1950, People's Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Regions Party and nominated by the Regions Party, the elected President of Ukraine,” he has said.

Shapoval reminded that in compliance with the law on the presidential election “official announcement of the election returns is announcement of returns of the presidential election in Ukraine by a person presiding at the CEC meeting.”

The protocol was signed by all CEC members, out of them, five - with a special opinion.

According to the CEC protocol, out of 37.051,449 citizens of Ukraine, included into the electoral roll, 25.496,008 citizens (68.8% of voters) participated in voting. Not supporting a single candidate were 1.113,055 voters (4.36%). For Viktor Yanukovych 12.481,266 citizens voted (48.95%), for Yulia Tymoshenko - 11.593,357 electors (45.47%).

Earlier, at its meeting the CEC considered and entered into the protocol data from all 225 territorial constituencies of Ukraine and from constituencies abroad. At the same time, some CEC members from the BYuT refused to announce data in Vinnytsia, Volyn and Sumy regions, as well as in territorial constituency No. 120 in Lviv region, motivating it by availability of judicial proceedings, decisions on which have not yet come into force, but may lead to data correction. Therefore, data on these regions were made public by CEC Secretary Tetiana Lukash.
