Due to complication of weather conditions and heavy rain conditions that continued on June 22 – 29, 2010 the floods struck Chernivtsi region of Ukraine.

As a result 40 villages and 1,913 hectares of farmland became flooded, with seven villages left without gas supply. Six road bridges were completely destroyed, while damage was caused to 39 out of 44 road bridges and two railway bridges, 135,890 meters of roads of state and local importance and 650 meters of dams.

250 thousand people are living in the disaster area. People lost their property, savings; they have no opportunity to obtain the most necessary things.

ChernivtsiRegional State Administration with the help of the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada requested to respond to the common disaster and to provide aid to the people which have suffered from flood in Chernivtsi region.

ChernivtsiRegional State Administration established charitable foreign currency account for providing financial aid to the people from devastated area:

We believe that this call to action will find a respond in the hearts of the Ukrainian Canadians who care about other’s people sufferings. All the money will be directed for the aid to the victims of the flood.
